aMUSE @ Incontri di Fisica 2022

Every year, a three-day training course for high school teachers and scientific journalists is organized by the INFN Frascati National Laboratory.

In the 2022 edition, participants attended dedicated lectures on Modern Physics and were then organized in small working group for an hands-on training on specific experimental activities under the guidance of INFN researchers. For each working group, the tutors provided an introductory seminar on the specific subject followed by an active guide to the laboratory measurements.

aMUSE researchers organized a working group on Particle Detection with Scintillating Materials. The innovative SiPM photosensors, used in the Mu2e calorimeter, coupled to plastic scintillators were used to study the dependence of the energy and time response from the impact position of the particles in the scintillator.

Before the laboratory measurements, there were introductory seminars on calorimetry, Mu2e and on the measurements planned for the hands-on activities:
